About Eddie
Ed
Ogle of Roanoke plays harmonica and guitar and provides many of Mountain
Fling's vocals. His award-winning harmonica playing features both slow,
lyrical melodies and fast dance tunes on this instrument that figured
heavily in the development of old-time music. Ed, a native of southern
West Virginia, enjoys performing both traditional and more contemporary
songs. He continues to develop his own style of playing from listening
to musicians he admires and swapping techniques with them. He enjoys
getting beginners started in harmonica workshops. Eddie's steady rhythm
guitar with occasional leads adds much to the foundation of the groups
sound. He is much in demand as a rhythm guitar player for local and regional
dances and old-time concerts. He is a leader of the Big Lick String Stranglers,
another local old-time band.
